    Eben erreichte mich folgende Mail:

    Congratulations!

In a questionnaire you recently submitted to Apple, you indicated an
interest in participating in a preview program for the new spoken
interface for Mac OS X. Because of your interest, and your ability
to provide excellent feedback, your request has been accepted and you
are invited to download a preview version of the new spoken interface
    for Mac OS X.

    About the Spoken Interface

The Mac OS X spoken interface provides an additional way to use your
Macintosh computer that does not require using a mouse or seeing the
screen. In addition to speaking the contents of documents, the spoken
interface speaks a description of all the activities taking place on
the computer, such as which applications are running, how many
windows are open, and much more. You can also control your computer
    using only the keyboard.

This preview release of the spoken interface provides you with an
opportunity to explore this technology before it is built into the
Mac OS X operating system. After installing the software, you'll be
able to learn about and explore the features of the spoken interface
    before its general release.

Please note that the software contained in this preview is not
feature complete and some features may not work as expected. While
Apple has worked hard to make this preview release reliable you
should only install the spoken interface software on a Mac that is
not critical to your work and regularly back up your important files
    and information.

    System Requirements

To install the software, you need an Apple Macintosh computer with
Mac OS X Panther version 10.3.4 installed and an Internet connection.
If you have Mac OS X version 10.3.1 or later installed, you can use
Software Update to install version 10.3.4, before installing the
spoken interface technology preview. Mac OS X Panther is not
    provided with the preview software.

    Download the Software

IMPORTANT! You cannot remove the spoken interface preview software
after you install it. To restore your computer to its original
condition, you must completely erase the contents of your computer's
hard disk and then reinstall Mac OS X and any additional software or
files. Please consider this carefully before installing this
    software.

To download the preview software package, please visit
    http://www.apple.com/accessibility/spokeninterface/download/ . Enter
the same email address you used when you asked to participate in the
preview program. When you successfully enter the address, you'll be
taken to a download page where you can download the spoken interface
preview (approximately 60 MB). You may download the preview software
only one time so make a backup copy in case you need to reinstall it.
If you know someone else who would like to participate in the
preview program, please direct them to
    http://www.apple.com/accessibility/spokeninterface/questionnaire.html
to complete the questionnaire and receive their own copy.

The resulting file on your computer will be a disk image containing
several important documents that you should copy to your hard disk
and read before installation. It also contains an application you
must run to install the software on your computer. Apple is
committed to making software installation fully accessible in the
future, however, the installation process is not accessible for this
preview release. If you are blind or have low vision, you will need
to have sighted assistance to install and set up the software.

    Send Feedback!

The purpose of the preview program is to provide you an opportunity
to experience the spoken interface and send your feedback to Apple.
Installation and technical support by telephone and email are not
available for the spoken interface preview. However, comments and
suggestions for the spoken interface are welcome. Press
"Control+Option+F11" while running the spoken interface software to
open a convenient feedback application that will make it easy to send
your spoken interface comments to Apple. To send more general
suggestions or comments on Mac OS X or accessibility, visit the Mac
OS X feedback website at www.apple.com/macosx/feedback. An Internet
connection is required to provide feedback and Internet service fees
may apply based on your provider.

zu DEM Thema zitiere ich doch lieber gleich meinen Lieblingsautor:

"Most of the time spent wrestling with technologies that don’t quite work yet is not just worth the effort for end users, however much fun it is for nerds like us. The days when you can say, "Open pod bay number 2, HAL," and be confident that HAL understands that you don’t want to be stranded on the outskirts of Jupiter are still a way away".
Douglas Adams, The Salmon of Doubt
