    G5 to Power Xbox?

Yesterday IBM and Microsoft announced that the next generation Xbox will run on an IBM microprocessor. Our good friends at our sister publication Official Xbox Magazine, as well as other industry insiders, are convinced that IBM’s G5 -- or some hybrid of it -- is the obvious choice. And why not? With a 64-bit, Velocity Engine-equipped G5 in its belly, the next-gen Xbox should not only make Sony’s PlayStation look like a Game Boy, but also be able to handle current Xbox games in emulation. It looks like -- yet again -- Apple has inspired others to follow its lead.
